AGUADILLA, PR (WWLP) – On Saturday at 9 a.m., pilot Miguel Estremera will take his sixth trip to deliver medical supplies to Puerto Rico. 22News reporter Taylor DiChello was aboard the jet Estremera flew to Puerto Rico on Friday, where she saw, first hand, the impact he is making there. Finally some relief for Puerto Ricans weeks after Hurricane Maria destroyed the island. The jet, a G4, was transformed into a cargo plane bringing medical supplies and necessities to Puerto Rico. Miguel Estremera is partnering with Sky Hope, an organization that matches pilots with people willing to give up their jets for a good cause.

They have sent pilots and planes to areas affected by Hurricanes Maria, Irma, and Harvey. “You gotta do what’s right,” Estremera told 22News. “I have kids and if my kids were in a situation like this I would want somebody to help. So at the end of the day, my parents taught me to do the right thing when you can and that’s what I’m trying to do.” On Friday, six people were able to be rescued from the island and thousands of pounds of supplies were brought down. The rescued will never stop fighting for their companions back home.

Eva Bujosa of Aguadilla told 22News it’s very tough because they’re leaving everything they had and everything they know, but they know it’s the right thing to do and now that they’re leaving, it gives them the opportunity to voice there’s a need and maybe help others that are still on the island.

Miguel Estremera can’t fix the damages caused by the hurricane but what he can do is bring relief to the victims of the damage in an effective and efficient manner. By the time he returns to work as an airline pilot on Tuesday, he’ll have delivered about 60,000 pounds of supplies and enough medical supplies to last 12 weeks. For now, Eva says “life has challenges, we will accept them.” The islanders are going through many mixed emotions. They’re grateful to be alive, they’re grateful to be rescued. But they’re sad to be leaving the once beautiful island they call home.

Elvis Presley’s Private Jets for Auction

Posted on January 5th, 2015

This past weekend, it was announced that the late Elvis Presley’s two private aircrafts, the Lisa Marie and Hound Dog II, are set to be auctioned by sealed bid. Even though both jets are not deemed air worthy, they are still expected to be auctioned between $10 to $15 million each, according to BBC.

The King of Rock bought the Lisa Marie, a Convair 880, in 1975 and spent about $300,00 remodeling it. Presley named the aircraft after his only daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who was born in 1968. The jet features a bathroom complete with gold adornments, a stereo system with fifty speakers, and a master suite with a full size bed. The tail also displays Presley’s trademark ‘TCB’ for ‘Taking Care of Business.’

The Hound Dog II, a Lockheed Jetstar, was also bought by Presley in 1975. This jet transported Presley around the world while the Lisa Marie was being remodeled.

Both aircrafts have been on display at Graceland, a tourist hotspot, for past 30 years. Fans have had the opportunity to tour both jets. The buyer of both the Lisa Marie and Hound Dog II has the option to purchase land next to the Graceland to display the aircrafts.

A private jet is a strategic asset that when used can help ensure the efficiency and productivity of its passengers. It is a tool that allows business owners and their employees to meet more potential customers, stay closer to the critical customers they have, turn employee travel time into work time, and open new markets. When a tool like that can help increase the profitability of one’s business, you keep it handy. When is comes to business, there are five top reasons why flying privately continues to be a powerful asset in the work field:

  1. When using a private jet, partners can meet, plan and work while flying to their destination, not wasting any valuable time. The team can discuss proprietary information in a secure environment and without fear of eavesdropping or industrial espionage.
  2. Companies that need to reach multiple destinations in a single day rely on business aviation. This type of itinerary is often impossible to keep when you’re using other modes of transportation, most notably commercial aviation.
  3. Many private jets are equipped with satellite phones and internet connectivity, which allows employees to remain in communication with colleagues on the ground throughout the flight. This is critical for companies managing a rapidly-changing situation.
  4. Business aviation allows companies to safely transport tools and materials that cannot be carried aboard airlines, enabling them to solve urgent problems efficiently and quickly.
  5. Business aviation is a time multiplier, allowing key employees to do more, faster. A private plane boosts employee efficiency and productivity, maximizing every dollar spent on growing and maintaining one’s business.
